The coastal regions of the United States, particularly the Gulf of Mexico U.S. States, hold great economic significance but are confronted with substantial challenges due to climate change. This research was conducted to support the establishment of the Framework for Coastal Climate Services (FCCS) by GCOOS and its partners in the Gulf of Mexico States. The FCCS places emphasis on user-centric services, accessibility, equity, and effective partnerships. Findings from a stakeholder survey conducted by GCOOS underscore the urgent need and specific requirements for climate services in the region. Notably, 68.18% of survey respondents consider climate services extremely important in addressing coastal climate change impacts. The stakeholder survey also identifies sectors that should be prioritized in the development and delivery of coastal climate services. Among these, coastal management, ecosystems, and conservation emerge as the most critical focus areas. This study emphasizes the crucial role of climate services and underscores the importance of stakeholder collaboration in addressing coastal climate challenges in the Gulf of Mexico region.
