Workshop Logistics

Meeting Venue

The workshop will take place at the Virden Retreat Center at the University of Delaware Hugh R. Sharp Campus at 1155 College Drive, Lewes DE 19958. 

Meeting Transportation

Passenger busses specific to the meeting will transport participants from the Beacon Inn to the workshop venue (the Virden Center) and back. You may also reach the Virden Center by walking a 2 mile stretch along Lewes Canal.

Getting There

Lewes, DE is approximately 2 hours from Philadelphia Airport, 2.5 hours from Reagan Washington Airport, 2 hours from Baltimore-Washington Airport, and 1 hour from Salisbury Airport. We recommend renting a vehicle to get from your arrival airport to Lewes. If you are interested in coordinating a carpool ride with other participants, contact ajohnson@usclivar.org to request access to the carpooling spreadsheet.

Technology

Complimentary Wi-Fi and plug-in points for charging will be available in the meeting spaces. 

Posters

The closest printer is Lewes Printing Inc. You are responsible for printing your own poster. 

Posters will be displayed on a combination of rolling room dividers (affix with tape or pushpins) and the wall space (affix with painters tape only) in the workshop venue. We recommend your poster be around 3' x 4' and in portrait (vertical) mode.

Virtual Participation

We aim to provide a seamless experience for both in-person and virtual participants. Additional information and the video conferencing link will be provided to you via email as we approach the workshop dates.

Visa Invitation Letters

For international attendees who require an invitation letter to attend the workshop, please contact Alyssa Johnson (ajohnson@usclivar.org) to make a formal request.

Meals

Breakfast, morning coffee break, lunch, and afternoon coffee break will be provided on April 23rd and 24th. Breakfast and a morning coffee break will be provided on April 25th. There will be a networking event with heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks provided directly following the end of day 1 of the workshop (April 23rd). 

Optional Outing

There will be a non-sponsored optional outing on Wednesday, April 24th. We will gather at the Beacon Inn in Lewes Delaware at 5:45 pm for a 0.4-mile walk to Savannah Beach. Following the beach walk, we will meet at the Wheelhouse Bar and Grill  at 7:00 pm for dinner.
