Air Travel and Ground Transportation
The two airports nearest to Woods Hole are Boston Logan Airport (BOS) and Providence T.F. Green Airport (PVD). Both airports are ~80 miles from Woods Hole, but Boston Logan Airport offers better bus service to Woods Hole. Please check bus schedules before finalizing your flight to ensure you will not arrive too late to catch the last bus.
The buses from the Boston airport (Peter Pan Bus Lines and Plymouth & Brockton) have a stop close to the Sands of Time Motor Inn in Woods Hole and the Inn on the Square in Falmouth. Your departure "city" would be Boston Logan Airport or T.F. Green Airport, with arrival city as Woods Hole or Falmouth to locate the correct schedule on their website. The bus stop for "scheduled buses" can be found outside each terminal at Boston Logan Airport. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn or another Falmouth hotel, you will have to request a taxi from the Falmouth bus station.
Falmouth Taxi
T: (508) 548-3100
All Seasons Taxi
T: (508) 548-9990
Other options to travel the ~90-minute trip from the airports to Woods Hole are the GoGreen Shuttle, White Tie Limousine, Enterprise and National car rentals, and taxis.
If you are traveling by car, driving directions to Woods Hole are available here. We strongly discourage rental cars given the availability of mass transport options between the airport and Woods Hole. Furthermore, once you arrive in Woods Hole, we have shuttles to transport participants between the hotels and WHOI each day. If you do drive (personal or rental car), we encourage you to leave your cars safely parked at your hotel and use the shuttle to alleviate parking congestion at WHOI.
Health Protocols
Your health and safety are of priority concern. In order to help ensure a safe environment for in-person participants, we will be undertaking the following measures:
- Setting up a COVID vaccination verification for in-person participants
- Wearing of masks optional (we will have masks available)
- Providing masks and hand sanitizing stations throughout the venue
All in-person participants will present confirmation of full vaccination at meeting check-in, so you will be assured that fellow participants on site are vaccinated.
We encourage everyone to monitor the latest COVID trend and forecast for Falmouth, MA.
Please check back frequently for updates to the protocols.
Visa Invitation Letters
For international attendees who require an invitation letter to attend the workshop, please contact Mary Zawoysky to make a formal request.
Virtual Participation
We aim to provide a seamless experience for both in-person and virtual participants. All participants will receive a Webex link to join the workshop during the week of April 4.
Posters
All poster presentations will be presented in two ways - with a short spotlight talk of 1-3 slides during plenary, and as a printed or online poster that can be viewed during breaks and networking time. In-person participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to view the online posters, and email with presenters.
