The Sources and Sinks of Ocean Mesoscale Eddy Energy. A Joint US CLIVAR and CLIVAR Workshop Report is now available, summarizing a March 2019 workshop on advancing our understanding of ocean mesoscale eddies and their energy sources and sinks in the context of climate variability and change. Also included in the report include recommendations and next steps presented by the workshop participants.

The Mesoscale and Frontal-Scale Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions and Influence on Large-Scale Climate Working Group also in September 2019 to establish dynamical and statistical diagnostic frameworks to interpret the coupled air-sea interactions over multiple spatial and temporal scales using satellite data and high-resolution numerical models.

The Working Group on Emerging Data Science Tools for Climate Variability and Predictability was formed in September 2019 with the purpose of helping to foster the understanding, adoption, and further development of modern data science tools for the analysis of large-to-massive climate data sets.

2019 Call for new US CLIVAR working groups

Requests are now being accepted for one new US CLIVAR-sponsored working group for 2020. Submissions are encouraged from the US climate science community. All documents must be submitted by October 11, 2019. The next call for working groups will be in September 2020.
